utterly stripped of a life where I possessed the freedom to do, and immerse myself in, everything I love.

And it is not just that an occupation attacks me with a military convoy, forcing me to leave my home and separating me from my son Majd, my mother, my brother and his family, my cousins, and so many friends.
Nor is it merely about the destruction of life\u2019s landscapes, and the relentless, unchecked killing.
I have no name. The siege has robbed me of every freedom I once held. For a month now, the crossings have been entirely sealed. Nothing enters Gaza. Absolutely nothing. No electricity, no water, no food, no medicine. Only rockets, artillery shells, and bullets find their way to us.
I have no name.
All choices lead to a single scene.
All imaginations fail to transcend the worst of nightmares\u2014
nightmares that turn into reality a moment later.
Nightmares through which I cannot guarantee that Hadeel, Nay, and I will continue along the same paths, or that we will inevitably survive the military screening and the unjustified, lawless purging. I have no name. My identity, my history, and my present are reduced to surviving the military convoy. How can one survive the worst of these nightmares?

The direction of the house, the olive trees, and the lemon tree.
And I assume the bombardment has destroyed the house, the olive trees, and the lemon tree.
I hear the sound of the warplane coming from east to west,
From west to east, from north to south,
And I assume that I am the next target.
The earth is driven into absence.
I cannot see the garden,
Nor the house,
Nor even the streets I once knew by heart.
Everything is besieged by the army,
Even the water has become besieged.
War is a darkness that devours memories and the faces of the places I loved.
It is Hadeel\u2019s tears as she looks at the horizon and finds nothing but smoke.
It is the questions of my daughter, Nay: \u201cWhere is the house? Why don\u2019t we go back to it?\u201d
War is my helplessness to move eastward, toward the house, the olive trees, and the lemon tree.
War is numbers on news screens\u2014numbers that used to be my neighbors and friends who carried dreams.
War is the killing and destruction of a present that keeps turning into a past made of stories and tales.
Yet, despite everything, our feeling for the earth has not died. The earth has not died.
Beneath all this rubble, there is a silent water waiting to quench the earth\u2019s thirst anew.

Beneath all this rubble, there are seeds waiting for the moment humanity rises around them once more.

The landmarks of the city are falling away, It is autumn once again. People are screaming in the roads, But the roads have stopped, And the voices are severed. We are besieged.
It is September once again. My city has perished. We are besieged.
I do not know how to mend time, Nor how to open the door. There is no time left for us, And there is no space. Do you see what we are in..?
The very same dust from the impact of bombardment, the very same clouds left behind the vehicles and the soldiers. The earth is weeping. No one will come to halt the demolition of homes, To stop the bullets of snipers and tanks, To stop the airstrikes, To stop the war. The wounds grow wider, While we search for a new place in our exiled lives.
